A bunker in another country

The home base used to climb a fixed ladder: supplies, a generator, a basement, a bunker, the ARK. Every player climbed it in the same order.

Pick a country

The phone now has a BUNKER app. From the first day you can buy a bunker at one of eight sites: the Canterbury Plains in New Zealand, the South Australian outback, Northern Ontario, an old missile silo in Kansas, the Bernese Alps, Lapland, Hokkaido or the mountains of Gangwon. Each site flies its flag over the bunker on the board.

Wait for it

A bunker takes a year to build, and upgrading it to the ARK takes another. The money leaves your account the day you sign. If the region around the site becomes a war zone, work stops until the fighting moves on.

That makes the cheap sites a gamble. The sites nearest the front cost the least, and they are the ones most likely to stop. The safe, distant sites cost the most.

Quick home preparations, like supplies and a generator, are still there for players who cannot afford a bunker yet. They are no longer a ladder you must climb.
